Stories

The heart of this project focuses on the lives of History Makers as seen through the eyes of Iowa's young people.  These stories involve at least one, and sometimes all, of the themes established by the project. There are stories of the struggles and successes of  African American Professionals in Iowa, the establishment and importance of African American Churches in Iowa, the conflicts and contributions of Civil Rights Organizations in Iowa, and of discouragements and victories found in Segregation and Integration in Iowa. Choose a category, region, or keyword to help you find the History Maker or History Makers whose stories you seek. Seek and you will find some of Iowa’s best treasures.
